Introduction to UGC-NET

The National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility of Assistant Professorship, Junior Research Fellowship or both, for Indian Universities and Colleges. Basically it is the examination for determining the eligibility for the post of assistant professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship award in Indian universities and colleges. The examination is conducted by National Testing Agency on behalf of University Grants Commission. Till July 2018, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the UGC NET exam, which the NTA has been conducting since December 2018. Currently, the exam is being conducted twice a year in the months of June and December in online mode.

Roadmap to UGC-NET preparation

Exam pattern

In UGC-NET There will be two papers, according to the UGC NET exam pattern. Paper I is used to test students' teaching/research capacity, while Paper II is based on their subject preferences. Candidates must prepare for the UGC NET 2021 exam keeping both papers in mind. They must plan their time for both the paper and the paper II, as Paper II needs in-depth knowledge of the candidates. The exam pattern of UGC NET Paper - 1 is designed to analyse the teaching skills and research skills of the aspirants. The Paper - 1 includes ten important topics teaching aptitude, research aptitude, comprehension, communication, mathematical reasoning and aptitude, logical reasoning, data interpretation, information and communication technology (ict), people, development and environment, and higher education system. Candidates select the subject for Paper II of the UGC NET during the application process. This is the subject in which the candidates received their master's degree. Paper II requires candidates' in-depth expertise. To pass this paper, students must devise a proper study strategy.

Preparation time

Ideally, it takes 3 to 6 months to prepare for the UGC NET exam (depending on how many hours you can devote to studies every day). Daily 3-5 hours of regular studies for about 3-6 months are enough to clear UGC-NET.
